Kashmir Activists Yana Mir who told “I am not Malala” !

The Kashmiri girl who said “I am not Malala” is Yana Mir, a social activist and a journalist from Jammu and Kashmir. She made this statement at the ‘Sankalp Divas’ event in the UK Parliament, where she was honoured with the Diversity Ambassador award.

She criticised Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize winner from Pakistan, for “defaming” India and Kashmir at international forums. She also denounced Pakistan’s propaganda and terrorism in the region. She asserted that she is free and safe in India, unlike Malala who had to flee her country.

She received the Diversity Ambassador award from the Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre UK (JKSC) in February 2024, for championing diversity in the J&K region.
  • She is an outspoken critic of Pakistan and its interference in Kashmir. She has denounced Pakistan’s propaganda and terrorism in the region, and has defended India’s sovereignty and integrity. She has also challenged Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize winner from Pakistan, for ‘defaming’ India and Kashmir at international forums.
