India vs England 3rd Test: Rohit Sharma’s ton puts hosts in command

India and England resumed their battle for the Anthony de Mello Trophy in the third Test at Rajkot on Thursday, 15 February 2024. The five-match series was level at 1-1 after England shocked India in the series opener at Hyderabad and India bounced back in Vizag.

The Rajkot pitch, which hosted a high-scoring draw in 2016, was expected to favour the batsmen and offer some turn as the match progressed.

India won the toss and opted to bat first, making four changes to their side. Ravindra Jadeja returned from injury to bolster the home team’s spin attack, while two debutants – Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel – replaced the injured KL Rahul and the out-of-form KS Bharat. England also made one change, bringing back Mark Wood for the rested James Anderson.

The score of the third Test between India and England in Rajkot is as follows:

  • At stumps on day one, India were 326/5 in 86 over
  • Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 131, his 11th Test century, and Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 110, his fourth Test hundred.
  • Mark Wood was the pick of the bowlers for England, taking 3 for 69.
